In the fourth round of the
IV. György Marx Memorial , Harikrishna drew with Hungarian GM Berkes
Ferenc (ELO 2601), the event is being held in Paks, Hungary, having
Average rating of 2622, Category 15.
After four rounds Indian GM Pentala Harikrishna is half a point ahead of
Efimenko and Almási (2˝ points).

Chess Championship will be Organized by, Capabalanca chess club, under the
aegis of Delhi Chess Association and on behalf of All India Chess
Federation at New Delhi from 23rd - 30th August, 2006.

Indians performed well in
the 11th open Balaguer Chess International Tournament held at Spain from
17th July to 26th July 2006. Eesha Karavade & G.N.Gopal bags IM norms
while IM Abhijit Gupta tied for 2nd position with 6 others.

Abhijit Kunte & GM Arencibia of Cuba tied for 1st place in Canadian Open
GM Abhijit Kunte & GM Arencibia of
Cuba tied for the 1st place in Canadian Open held at Kitchner, Canada. GM
Abhijit Kunte of Indian Oil Pune (7 Points) won against Buscar M. of
Canada in the final round to tie for the 1st place. CPAI is thankful to
Mr. Prashant Desai for proving photos.
Symbiosis planning to start
the 3 year diploma course in Chess.
Symbiosis, The Deemed University
plans to start the 3 year diploma from next month. Anyone can join the
course as their is not criteria to enroll. The Maharashtra Chess
Association would recognise the course and would provide the coaches in
association with the Pune District Chess Association.

Federation has developed the biggest and the most modern federation centre
along with the biggest chess library. The centre is called the "Atatürk
Chess Centre". The total cost for the establishment of the Center is 1.1
million Euro !
Rahul Shetty stunned
top seed GM E. Bareev at Canadian open.
Rahul Shetty recorded one of the
major upset in the second round of Canadian Open Chess as he defeated the
top seed GM E. Bareev in caro-cann defence in 32 moves. Overall Indians
had a great day.
