Abhijit Gupta of BPCL & Soumya Swaminathan of IOC wins the National Junior Chess Championship at Delhi.
 
Abhijit Gupta Scored 8.5/10 points to win the Parsvnath National Junior Championship at Delhi. Soumya won her consecutive 2nd National Junior title. She tied with current India no. 2 WIM MaryAnn Gomes of WB with 7.5/9 points. For more information visit www.delhichess.com

Akshayraj Kore wins the 2nd Blitz tournament.
  The successive 2nd Blitz Championship was held on 12th August 2006 at Pune Club , Pune. Under the patronage of Pune Club & with the support from Pune District Chess Association, the Buddibal krida Trust organized the tournament. (CPAI is thankful to WGM Swati Ghate for this report)

Harikrishna wins Marx Gyorgy chess tournament !
 
Harikrishna won the third Marx Gyorgy International Chess tournament after settling for a draw with Hungarian Grandmaster Ferenc Berkes in the final round .
 This title will help Hari to regain his confidence level especially after Aerosvit Grandmasters tournament
.

, the Cpai family join the mourning at the sad demise of Mr. Yogesh Gore. He was suffering from the Jaundice during the tournament at Karwar & could not recover from it. We will miss this talented chess player from Madhya Pradesh who was working with P & T as a sports recruiter.


Hari beats Almasi with black pieces as well, inches closer to title.
 
In the eighth round of the IV. György Marx Memorial, Harikrishna beats the second seed Hungarian GM  Almási Zoltan (ELO 2672). All other games drawn, Harikrishna now leads the tournament with full point. All the games in round 5, 6 and 7 drawn, Harikrishna succeeded in breaking the draw series in the eighth round.



GM Abhijit Kunte won the 1st Poona Club Blitz tournament !
 
The 1st  Poona Club Blitz Event was organised by Buddhibal Krida Trust In Association with CPAI on 30th July 2006 at Poona Club, Pune.  Poona club has come up a big way & started a new tradition in the Indian chess history by sponsoring a series of blitz championships.

All games drawn again.

  In the sixth round of the IV. György Marx Memorial, Harikrishna drew with Hungarian GM  Acs Peter (ELO 2520). As all the games drawn in the sixth round, Harikrishna maintained the half point lead.

All games drawn, Hari maintains lead.
 In the fifth round of the IV. György Marx Memorial, Harikrishna drew with Chinese GM  Wang Yue (ELO 2626). As all the games drawn in the fifth round, Harikrishna maintained the half point lead.
