It is good to see a 10 year ban on the person
who has followed a shortcut method to success. It is suggested that cell
phones or any electronic /communication devices being used by Chess
players may be collected by the Arbiter /Asst Arbiter and the same may be
returned to them after their games are over. Perhaps a counter can be
opened for this purpose making the tournament hall a secure place for fair
play.
Cell phone call details could reveal a lot and speak for itself for their
innocence or otherwise. Postmortem on the call details and routine
activity matching the play schedules may be traced and questioned. In the
light of serious allegations DP Singh should come forward and submit his
Cell phone call details/Bills voluntarily to prove his innocence !?

tournaments, so that such practices are not followed in the future
Comment for article: Punishable

Comment: This is great find!
If this strict checking goes on in India then of course we will produce
clean players in future and Umakant shuld be punished so that other
players get feared to use such things!

Comment: I am from Delhi. Thanks to CPAI for publishing my comment
on doping test. I hope CPAI and its members will continue checking in all
forthcoming games National or international played in India.
Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between
devices such as mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras
and video game consoles via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range
radio frequency.
Bluetooth device can also communicate with up to 7 devices if setting
is done in it.
Its unbelievable a player with 2489 rating keeps bluetooth device with
head phones in his cap and mobile phone in his bag! Thus,AICF,CPAI &FIDE
must understand the need of checking.
I have heard in one international tournament a world chess champion
went to bathroom after each move and more than 50 times in bathroom!!!
Checking MUST be strictly done.

Comment: I congrats the team of CPAI to have an option for this of
comment section. As a member of chess loving fraternity I personally feel
that the bigger fish is behind the screen. I also stress upon the need of
punishing Umakanth.
Truth will come out ie the bigger fish must come out (if there is god)

Comment: Such atrocities should be considered as a criminal
offence. May be not by law as of now; but at least on moral grounds. Such
cheats have already stolen away the prize money which right fully belonged
to others.

appropriate punishment to the culprit.............so that others players
think twice before doing any type of cheating

Comment: I would like to congratulate the team (the players,
arbiters etc.) who unearthed the scandal involving UmaKant Sharma. Of
course we are also aware that a bigger fish, D.P. Singh has escaped
similar fate.
I feel now the CPAI should take up the matter with AICF and openly ask for
both the players to be debarred based on analysis of their games. A lot of
players career and prizes have been affected by these two cheats.
Let the AICF take its own decision, but we should make our stance clear in
this issue!

Comment: I am from Delhi and very happy to see that CPAI allows to
write view without any registration, though i am a AICF registered player.
I want to share my views:
1)It is very bad to see a candidate getting a full score of 1 if the
other opponent is absent. I have seen this in this current ongoing Air
Force chess competition.
2) Doping Test must be held rather than protest as written in your
article.
Rated Players are treated as if they have got so much potential which is
not true.
I am sure 90-95% of the the players you worship will be caught in it, May
be some of your student.
I seeing few other things adding to this which I have not written ,think
of not playing chess tournament.

Umakant found with bluetooth

Comment: Dear Sir,
I am participating in the ongoing Subroto Memorial Chess tournament in
delhi and its really shocking to know that the players are using
electronic devices for winning the matches.
But in your article you are forgotten to give the due credit to Indian Air
Force for their bold decision to make a check on players first time in
India and that energetic arbiter who conducted the search activity with
precision because if they wished they can easily cover up the matter to
avoid the embarrassment for their tournament
As a chess player I salute Indian Air Force and the Arbiter.

Comment for article: Dope testing in chess

Comment: hello
everybody, I was surprised to see anand and kunte's comments about dope
testing in chess. personally I feel dope testing is necessary in chess.
There are many type of drugs which are capable of enhancing one's mood,
lengthening one's concentration, helping a player to remain calm in tense
positions, giving excessive physical energy and so on. I have seen a few
Indian players using these shortcut methods. (of course, in the longrun
these drugs will have adverse effect on the consumer himself.) but in
general, dope testing will certainly help honest players.
It is the duty of the fide to first publish the list of banned drugs and
only then start dope testing. I hope anand and kunte will agree with me.

Comment:
Instead of protest Dope Testing , you convince properly to concern
authorities through proper top experienced players like Kasparov, Karpov,
Anand, Adams, Leko, Topalov. e.g. Instead of "NO SMOKING"
you write "CLEAN ZONE" everybody automatically follows that
discipline. I think firstly you follow the rules and discipline and full
concentrate on Chess only. Please remember that "PLAY AND
DISCIPLINE IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT"

Comment: This years
coomonwealth chess championship 2006 failed to attract the required
foreign players bcz of that Indian players did not get norms. This
tournament is a wastage of money. It became similar to the Koya\\\"s
tourney at Pune two years ago. Chess Players are not fools
